About Us

Our Founding

Launched in September 2022, the EC LOC Collaborative is a national, self-organized network for leaders of color in early childhood that is designed to:

  • Create a restorative, healing space for leaders to be and learn in community with one another
  • Grow and strengthen their organizations through peer learning and partnerships; and
  • Take collective action on behalf of the communities they serve

We dream that the EC LOC Collaborative is a transformative network for members because it is designed by, for, and with them. We strive to center their voices, needs, and aspirations. This practice of co-design and co-creation in community is the greatest distinction that separates the EC LOC Collaborative from other existing supports and programs.

Our Impact

At present, we have over 150 active members across 31 states, representing various areas of early childhood.

Through our connection, cooperation, coordination, and collaboration, we seek to:

  • Increase the sustainability of BIPOC leaders in the ECD field
  • Increase the social capital among EC LOC in the field
  • Increase the power of EC LOC in the field.

We believe increasing the sustainability, social capital, and power of proximate BIPOC leaders in the ECD field will lead to thriving, liberated environments for children, prenatal to five, nationwide.
